Men Arrested in Attempt Theft of Vehicle and Aggravated Assault of a Toronto Police Officer,
Yonge Street and Finch Ave East area

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of arrests made in an Attempt Theft of Vehicle and Aggravated Assault Police Officer investigation.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, at approximately 9:40 p.m., police responded to a call for a Suspicious Incident in the Yonge Street and Finch Avenue West area.

It is alleged that:

  • a group of males were attempting to steal a vehicle
  • responding officers located the suspects in the area
  • one suspect was arrested at the scene, one was arrested after a brief foot chase, the other suspects fled the area
  • during the course of the arrests, a police officer suffered a serious non-life threatening injury

Oluwafemi Oladekoye, 19, of Woodbridge, is charged with:

  1. Attempt Theft Exceeding $5000
  2. Have face masked/disguised
  3. Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer

Haydon Courtney, 19, of Toronto, is charged with:

  1. Attempt Theft Exceeding $5000
  2. Have face masked/disguised

They were scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 105.
