The Public Works Department is made up of various sub-departments including Fleet, Line Repair, Streets/Stormwater and Traffic, Wastewater, and Water. Each week, over 100 employees are responsible for the maintenance, monitoring, and improvement of existing and new infrastructure across League City which includes everything from roadways and traffic lights to storm drains, sewers, and water production.
Below are some tips and projects they are working on:
New Traffic Signal Activated at Walker St. & Kesslers Crossing
The City of League City's Traffic and Transportation Department, in collaboration with Project Management and Engineering, has successfully activated a new traffic signal system at the intersection of Walker and Kesslers Crossing. Over the next few weeks, we will be working to activate the other three nearby signal systems along Walker once the contractor has all needed items in place that are required for a safe signal activation.
This improvement is part of the City's ongoing commitment to enhancing traffic flow and safety for all road users. The new signal system is designed to:
Drivers are encouraged to be cautious and alert as they navigate the area while adjusting to the new traffic signal operation. Please obey all signals and posted speed limits to ensure everyone's safety.
Fuse Block and Wiring Harness Repair
A 2012 bucket truck came to the shop with concerns about the wipers not working. After the mechanics thoroughly investigated the unit, they discovered many more problems. It appears water found its way to the fuse box and the electrical system, causing rust and corrosion. A fuse block is an electrical component designed to house and protect multiple fuses in a single unit. Its primary purpose is to organize and manage the electrical circuits it serves, ensuring safety by protecting the wiring and devices from overloads or short circuits. Fleet will have to replace the fuse block and the wiring harness to complete the repair.
