New Zealand outfitters visit with HMT students about interships, career opportunities

NATCHITOCHES - Richard and Sarah Burdon, owners of Glen Dene Hunting and Fishing near Wanaka, New Zealand, visited with students in Northwestern State University's Hospitality Management and Tourism program where they discussed internship and career opportunities with their company, an environmentally conscious hunting and outdoors family business. Mr. and Mrs. Burdon are leaders in regenerative tourism, a model in which tourism enriches communities and protects the environment. The Burdon's place a high priority on sustainability, education, team building and community, encouraging travelers to learn about conservation while enjoying the beauty of New Zealand and its natural resources. Their "High Country Hospitality" business model dovetails with NSU's HMT program, where the internship component requires a meaningful capstone project. Opportunities are available at Glen Dene for students pursuing careers in travel and tourism, culinary arts, business management, marketing and related fields in a country where individuals under 30 can easily obtain a work visa.
