Gov. Abbott Needs to Protect ALL Female Athletes

Concerned Women for America (CWA), the nation's largest public policy womens' organization, is leading the fight nationally and in the states to protect women and girls' athletic opportunities at all levels of competition. We applaud those governors who have signed bills that protect all female athletes of all ages.

Gov. Greg Abbott (Republican) has called a Third Special Session that begins on Monday, September 20. He has made a call for the girls' sports bill, but the version of the bill called does not protect collegiate athletes. CWA of Texas is urging Gov. Abbott not to deny collegiate female athletes the opportunity to play on female-only teams and to sign a bill that protects all female athletes. Anything less is not acceptable.

CWA of Texas has worked tirelessly for the past three sessions of the Texas legislator to pass a girls' sports bill that would protect all female athletes, and we will continue to fight for the passage of a bill in the Third Special Session.

We need your help to make that happen.

Take Action:

  • Contact Gov. Greg Abbott and urge him to support a girls' sports bill that includes collegiate athletes. Online contact form.
  • Contact the office of Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan and tell him you want to see Texas girls' sports bill that protects all female athletes and that you want the bill assigned to a committee other than the House Public Education Committee.

  • Urge your friends to make this call.
  • Urge young women athletes to make this call and be available to testify when it comes before the committee.

Please Pray:

  • Pray that our young women will not be denied benefits from their God-given talents and abilities.
  • Pray that the forces of evil will be cut off.
  • Pray that citizens will wake up to their role in righteousness in government.

'We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. See that no one repays another with the evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.' I Thessalonians 5:14-15
