New incentive to support PEI tourism accommodations

The provincial government, together with the Hotel Association of PEI and Food Island Partnership, launched a new gift card incentive program to support tourism accommodation operators and the industry.

For each consecutive two-night stay, guests at a qualifying PEI accommodation will receive a $100 Canada's Food Island gift card upon check in, to a maximum of five gift cards for a stay of 10 or more consecutive nights. The incentive will run from June 15 to July 31, or while gift card quantities last.

'Better days are coming for the Island's tourism industry and I can't wait to get back to doing what we do best; delivering the world-class hospitality we're so well known for. The accommodation sector needs our support right now, so I'm asking all Islanders to help local tourism operators by booking a beautiful staycation at one of the many accommodations across the province. Later this month, we also look forward to welcoming Atlantic visitors back to book their dearly missed PEI vacations.'

- Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture Minister Matthew MacKay

PEI accommodation operators who are interested in participating in the gift card incentive program can review eligibility criteria and register their accommodation before June 13 by visiting: Tourism Accommodation Accelerator Program

'We're excited about this new gift card incentive program and thank the Government of Prince Edward Island for their support,' said John Cudmore, President of the Hotel Association of PEI. 'We encourage all Islanders to start planning their dream staycation and we can't wait to welcome Atlantic visitors in the weeks to come.'
