The Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) signs a Declaration of Intent (DoI) on March 26th, 2024 with the Bureau d'enquêtes et d'analyses pour la sécurité de l'aviation civile of France (BEA). TTSB's chairman Mr. Shinn-Der Lin signed the DoI with BEA Director Mr. Pierre-Yves Huerre. The Managing Director Mr. Peida Lin, Director of Aviation Occurrence Investigation Division Mr. Tungming Liu of TTSB, together with BEA Head of European and International Affairs Mr. Philippe Plantin de Hugue attended the ceremony.

The transportation safety cooperation between Taiwan and France has a long history. As early as in May 25, 1998, when the Aviation Safety Council (ASC), the predecessor of the TTSB, first established, a communication channel was set up with the BEA. On May 8, 2001, the two organizations signed the "Guidelines for the Conduct of international Aviation Accident Investigations". As from August 1, 2019, the ASC was restructured into the TTSB, in order to upgrade the cooperation in the civil aviation investigation between Taiwan and France, the TTSB initiated with the BEA the DoI to establish a more comprehensive collaboration mechanism.

Chairman Lin stated that as currently Taiwan is not able to participate in the ICAO, it still complied with the norms and the practices of the international standards in civil aviation investigation. Through the signing of this DoI, TTSB looks forward to the continued close cooperation and safety information sharing with the BEA on various aviation safety issues.
