Get ready, Wyandotte County residents, because the Unified Government's Public Works Department is thrilled to announce the eagerly awaited second Dumpster Days event of the year is October 13 & 14 from 8 AM to 12 PM at Indian Springs, 47th & Orville, Kansas City, KS 66102.

At Dumpster Days, Wyandotte County residents have the opportunity to recycle electronics waste for a fee and dispose of bulky items like mattresses and furniture for free. To gain entry, residents will need to show proof of Wyandotte County residency with something like a driver's license or utility bill displaying their name and address.

Accepted items include electronics, mattresses, furniture, refrigerators, general appliances, fixtures, microwaves, freezers, televisions, and more. Fees apply to specific electronic items:

  • CRT Computer Screens: $10
  • LCD/Flat Screen TVs: $20
  • CRT TVs: $40

Please note that only cash is accepted, and exact change is required. Items that cannot be accepted at the event include household hazardous waste, paint, yard waste, batteries, storm debris, food waste, glass & plastics recycling, tires, and construction demolition material.

For yard waste, storm debris, and glass or paper recycling, residents can use the Recycling & Yard Waste Center at 3241 Park Drive, Kansas City, KS 66102, at no cost. The center operates from 10 AM to 3 PM on Thursday through Saturday until November 26 and is closed on holidays.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) can be taken to the HHW Center at 2443 South 88th Street, Kansas City, KS 66111. The final HHW disposal event of 2023 is October 21, from 8:30 AM to 1 PM.
