County Executive Meyer announces winners of 2024 NCC heARTed contest

NEW CASTLE - New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer today announced the winners of the 2024 New Castle County HeARTed contest. County Executive Meyer congratulates all of those who entered artwork in this year's NCC heARTed Art Contest. This year, the contest received over 90 submissions answering the challenge to create a piece of art portraying a scene from an adventure using a graphic arts style. Submissions ranged from anime and manga to comics and illustrations - created by hand or digitally.

"I am thrilled with the creativity and the imagination of all of our entries," said County Executive Meyer. "Thank you to all of our entrants and our community services department who host the annual contest."

This year's contest partnered with New Castle County libraries. The theme and art form are inspired by this year's NEA Big Read book The Best We Could Do. The contest had four categories: Budding Artists, Youth, Teen, and Adult! This year's winners include:

  • Budding Artists: Doram Park The Rise of the Phoenix
  • Youth: Mason Plagge Seasons of Epic Adventures
  • Teen: Delaney Barry Seeking What's Bright
  • Adult: Jonathan Allen Field Trip into the Stars

The winning artwork, as well as all other submissions, will be displayed at the NCC heARTed Pop Up Art Show happening on Wednesday May 15th from 5-6:30PM at the Route 9 Library and Innovation Center. For more information, visit this link.
