The National Assembly observed a minute's silence in memory of His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch and Sofia Metropolitan Neophyte. Yesterday, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - Bulgarian Patriarchate announced the death of Patriarch Neophyte.

We have lost the spiritual father of the Bulgarian people, who led the Bulgarian Orthodox Church with wisdom, dignity and care for all believers, National Assembly President Rosen Zhelyazkov said at the beginning of the plenary session. We will remember him as a fosterer of unity, peace and prosperity, the President of Parliament added and called on MPs to observe a minute of silence for His Holiness and to pray for the repose of his soul.
