National Assembly begins work of regular sittings

On October 1, the National Assembly began the work of the regular sittings. The deputies approved the agenda of the regular sittings, after which they started the debate of the drafts.

It was proposed to the Government by the initiative presented by the Council of Elders of Alaverdi community that in 1967 was included in Alaverdi city, settlement domain, and from 1996 to separate Sanahin quarter as Alaverdi community quarter and as a separate village, to include it in the part of Alaverdi enlarged community. The RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan said this.

The draft law On Making Addendum to the law on RA Administrative-Territorial Division was debated in the first reading.

"Sanahin is perhaps one of our historical oldest settlements of the Republic of Armenia. Sanahin Monastic Complex with Haghpat Monastic Complex was in the UNESCO Register of the World Cultural Values. We are convinced that separating Sanahin village as a historical-cultural independent settlement, it will develop quicker and more effectively," Vache Teryan said. According to Deputy Minister, in the administrative aspect, Sanahin to certain extent is geographically separated from the city of Alaverdi, and in case of having defined positions of administrative manager and operator, will be able to provide electronic management system.

The co-rapporteur, the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection Aren Mkrtchyan presented the endorsement of the Committee on the draft. He emphasized the issue of giving Sanahin a status of separate rural settelement.
