“Food for Gaza” initiative – Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, met on Monday with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, WFP Executive Director Cindy H. McCain and the Deputy Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Xavier Castellanos to launch the "Food for Gaza" initiative.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Italy has been at the forefront in providing humanitarian assistance to the population of Gaza, delivering relief goods and giving assistance to people in need of medical assistance, including minors and their families. The "Food for Gaza" initiative, led by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the FAO, WFP and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), is aimed at facilitating access to food aid, alleviating the suffering of the population and ensuring food security in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting was followed by a press point held in the Sala Mosaici at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and may be watched at the following link: "Food for Gaza" initiative (youtube.com).
