Nurse Pinning Ceremonies Planned for May 6 and 7 on UVI Campuses

The University of the Virgin Islands will celebrate its Nurse Pinning Ceremony on Monday, May 6, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix in the Great Hall at 4 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 7, in the LaVerne E. Ragster Administration and Conference Center at 5 p.m. on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas.

The nursing pinning ceremony is a symbolic event for nursing students as it marks the hard work and dedication of their coursework and clinical rotations. Each student receives a traditional nursing pin that marks their transition from a student to a professional nurse.

Nursing integrates the art and science of caring and focuses on the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and human functioning while keeping one from the prevention of illness and injury and facilitating healing and staggering through compassionate presence.

At the ceremony, students take a sacred oath of commitment - the Florence Nightingale Pledge. The community, family, and friends are invited to attend this auspicious occasion.
