Equine Infectious Anemia Virus (EIAV) Testing During the 2023 All-American Quarter Horse Congress

The Ohio Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) will provide EIAV testing 7 days a week, from Tuesday, September 26th thru Saturday, October 21st for the duration of the 2023 All-American Quarter Horse Congress. Samples can be dropped off from 8AM to 5PM, M-F during the normal workweek for the laboratory. Please be reminded that the EIAV ELISA test is a SAME day test, however, samples received into the laboratory after 12PM weekdays will not be run and reported until next day. Please also note the Weekend/Holiday testing protocol described below.

Sample Submission Protocol for Weekday Testing:

1. Serum samples for EIAV testing must be collected by a veterinarian that is Category II accredited by the USDA. Test records must be filled out completely and included with samples. Please use the Ohio Equine Infectious Anemia Test Record #AGR0251 - Revised February 2020 for EIAV test requests. Test records submitted MUST BE SIGNED by the veterinarian.
2. Please include "Quarter Horse Congress" written at the top of the form above the owner's name.
3. Results will be emailed to the Congress Hall office.
4. Test costs are $5.60/sample, plus an $8.00 accession fee for in-state samples and $8.40/sample, plus a $10 accessioning fee for out-of-state samples and will be invoiced to the submitting veterinarian - unless arranged differently at the time of submission to the laboratory. Cash, check, or credit cards are accepted during normal business hours.

Sample Submission Protocol for Weekend Testing:

1. Samples MUST arrive at the ADDL by 10AM for same day testing on weekends/holidays. Results will be emailed to the Congress Hall office by 1PM same day.
2. Testing and delivery of samples MUST be arranged by the owner/trainer/veterinarian with ADDL staff by calling 614.989.8036.
3. Delivery of samples to the ADDL is the responsibility of the owner and samples MUST be sealed by the veterinarian to maintain chain of custody during transit to the laboratory.
4. Monday, October 9th is the Columbus Day holiday - the laboratory is NOT open and weekend/holiday protocol applies as described above.
5. A fee of $75.00 per accession will be assessed for weekend/holiday submissions - in addition to the test cost of $5.60/sample, plus an $8.00 accession fee for in-state samples and $8.40/sample, plus a $10 accessioning fee for out-of-state samples.
6. ALL fees shall be paid upon sample submission to the laboratory for weekend/holiday testing. Payment may be made by cash or check ONLY
