Cecilia Vitti from Divine Child and Noah Dobert from Dearborn High were named the High School Athletes of the Year by the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Commission at its 70th Annual Sports Awards Ceremony on March 12. Vitti has been a standout performer with the Falcon basketball and lacrosse teams, while Dobert has excelled with the Pioneer football and track clubs. As the High School Athletes of the Year, Vitti and Dobert received the Van Patrick Memorial Award, named after the late local sportscaster Van Patrick. On hand to congratulate the two honorees were Sean Fletcher, Director of the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department, and Elizabeth Murray, Chairperson of the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Commission. The late Van Patrick, a Dearborn resident, was an acclaimed radio and television personality who broadcast college and professional sports-including Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions games-from the late 1940s until his death from cancer in 1974. Patrick was a member of the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Commission and a long-time supporter of the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department.
