TAP é a melhor companhia aérea para a América do Sul e África

TAP Air Portugal was chosen as the best European Airline flying to South America and Africa at the 30th edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA). Considered the Oscars of world tourism, the WTAs were awarded at a gala that took place this Friday, October 29th, in Batumi, Georgia.

The winners of the World Travel Awards were chosen through an online voting process, mainly by professionals in the field of tourism and travel, namely travel agents, operators and tourism organizations, from various countries, as well as the general public.

The World Travel Awards aim to distinguish the best in global tourism in dozens of categories and across various areas of the globe.

The trophies awarded in this edition are in addition to the prizes won in previous editions. TAP has already been chosen by the World Travel Awards as the European Airline flying to Africa in 2011, 2012, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, as well as the best Airline flying to South America in 2009, 2010, 2011 , 2012, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

TAP currently flies to more than 90 destinations, with more than 1250 flights per week. It offers 80 weekly flights to Brazil and, in 2024, will increase frequencies with a total of 91 flights per week to 11 Brazilian capitals. An average of 13 per day, reaffirming TAP as the most important international airline connecting Brazil to Europe. In South America it also flies to Venezuela.

In Africa, TAP currently has 15 destinations with more than 80 weekly flights.

Routes to the United States and Canada grow 23% this year

TAP Air Portugal has already transported more than one million passengers this year on routes to the United States and Canada. This milestone was reached on September 24th and represents growth of 23% compared to the same period of the previous year.

TAP's first flight to North America was 54 years ago, in 1969, to JFK airport, New York.

Currently, the Company has routes from Lisbon and Porto to seven cities in the United States - New York, Newark, Boston, Washington, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami - and to two in Canada: Toronto and Montreal.

In 2024, TAP will have the largest operation ever to North America, with 91 weekly flights.

Toronto and San Francisco will see an increase in frequencies, rising from 10 to 13 and from five to six, respectively.

TAP had also surpassed the milestone of one million passengers on routes to Brazil in August, which represented growth of 30%.

Starting this month, TAP will increase flights to the 11 destinations it serves in Brazil to 81 weekly frequencies. Number that, in 2024, will rise to 91.
