Fatal Crash in Cortlandt

PRESS RELEASE

Cortlandt, New York - On December 15, 2023, the New York State Police began investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash on Albany Post Road/Route 9 in the town of Cortlandt at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Initial investigation revealed Vladislav Saban, age 17, of Cold Spring, NY, operating a 2012 Toyota Prius southbound on Route 9 sideswiped a Subaru Forester while passing illegally on the right shoulder. Saban lost control of the vehicle, struck a utility pole, and then a tree. Garrison and Continental Village Fire Departments along with Peekskill EMS extracted Vladislav from the vehicle and pronounced him deceased on scene. During extraction, an unresponsive sixteen-year-old female was found in the rear of the vehicle. She was transported to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.
