Tallahassee Fire Department to Host Interest Meeting for Cadet Program

April 16, 2021

The Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) is pleased to announce the return of its Cadet Program for local youth who are interested in a career in the fire service.

TFD will host an interest meeting on Tuesday, April 27, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the TFD Training Facility, located at 2964 Municipal Way. The interest meeting will provide students and parents with an opportunity to talk to TFD members, as well as get additional information and apply for the program.

The Cadet Program is open to individuals between the ages of 14-21 who are enrolled in school. Cadets will meet in-person once a week from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays with a starting date in May. Current health safety guidelines will be in place, including mandatory masks, social distancing and temperature checks.

The program will offer continuous learning opportunities. Cadets will receive scenario-based training in a wide variety of fire service skills such as CPR, first responder, nozzle operation, ropes and knots, ladders, hazardous materials and more.

Cadets will also have the opportunity to ride along with TFD members and participate in various community service events.
