Acclaimed children's author Saadia Faruqi will visit the Rock Island Public Library's Watts-Midtown Branch on July 12 in one of several presentations made possible by the Quad City Arts Visiting Artist Series.
Meet Renowned Author Saadia Faruqui July 12 at Rock Island Public Library
As part of the library's "Find Your Voice" summer reading programming, accomplished author Saadia Faruqui will speak at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 12 at the Rock Island Library's Watts-Midtown Branch auditorium, 2715 30th Street. Her author visit is open to all ages, and is made possible by the Quad City Arts Visiting Artist series.
Saadia is a Pakistani American author and interfaith activist. She is the author of the popular early reader series "Yasmin," and a new picture book "Rani's Remarkable Day," along with multiple chapter books, middle grade novels, and graphic novels. Her middle-grade novels include "A Place At The Table" co-written with Laura Shovan (a Sydney Taylor Notable 2021), "A Thousand Questions" (a South Asia Book Award Honor 2021) and "Yusuf Azeem Is Not A Hero" She is also editor-in-chief of Blue Minaret, a magazine for Muslim art, poetry and prose, and was featured in Oprah Magazine in 2017 as a woman making a difference in her community. She lives in Houston, TX with her husband and children
