Argentina demands the arrest of Iranian minister Ahmad Vahidi, responsible for the terrorist attack on AMIA

Argentina demands the international arrest of those responsible for the terrorist attack on the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) in 1994, which resulted in the death of 85 people, who continue to hold their positions of power with total impunity.

This includes Ahmad Vahidi, sought by the Argentine Judiciary as one of those responsible for the terrorist attack on AMIA. Vahidi currently serves as Minister of the Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran and is a member of the government delegation currently visiting Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

In this context, Interpol headquarters in Lyon issued a Red Notice for Vahidi's arrest at the request of Argentine authorities.

Argentina has requested Pakistan and Sri Lanka to arrest Vahidi during his trip, in compliance with Interpol mechanisms.

In addition to the efforts carried out by Argentina's Ministries of Security and Foreign Affairs -with the collaboration of the Argentine Embassies in Pakistan and India- Interpol's National Central Bureau (NCB) in Buenos Aires, which is part of the Argentine Federal Police, requested its counterpart, NCB in Islamabad, to place Vahidi under arrest with a view to extraditing him to Argentina.
