The Boston Police Department Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Officer Franklin B. Dreyer who was Killed in the Line of Duty on this Day 94 Years Ago

The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember the service and sacrifice of Officer Franklin B. Dreyer 94 years ago today. On Thursday April 24, 1930, Officer Dreyer was shot and killed during an exchange of gunfire with a breaking and entering suspect in the area of Adams Street and Ashmont Street in Dorchester.

Officer Dreyer was 32 years of age at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife and three sons. He is buried in the New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan. His name is forever imprinted on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. on Panel 14, East Line 2. His name can also be seen on the BPD's Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts State Law Enforcement Memorial located on the lawn of the Massachusetts State House in Boston.14-E: 2
