Minister Zizi Kodwa and Deputy Minister Nocawe Mafu wish the Proteas Men well for Cricket World Cup semifinal match

Sport, Arts and Culture Minister and Deputy Minister Wish Proteas Men Well Ahead of Cricket World Cup Semifinal

Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Mr Zizi Kodwa and Deputy Minister Ms Nocawe Mafu wish the Proteas Men, South Africa's national men's cricket team, all the best for the Cricket World Cup semifinal match against Australia on Thursday, 16 November 2023.

The Proteas play against Australia in Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India. The winner of this match will play in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final against India on Sunday, 19 November 2023.

Deputy Minister Mafu is in Kolkata to support the Proteas.

Deputy Minister Mafu says, "The Proteas continue a memorable year for South African sport. Our boys have made us very proud. I am happy to join South African supporters in Kolkata, to urge the Proteas on."

Minister Kodwa says, "The Proteas have played with great heart, and have captured our hearts and admiration with their performances at the Cricket World Cup. Today's semifinal is particularly special, as the Proteas play against their old rivals Australia at Eden Gardens, one of the world's most historic cricket grounds."

"I wish the Proteas all the best in the semifinals. The Proteas have been great ambassadors for South Africa and have played a big role in electrifying the current mood in the country with their performances at the Cricket World Cup. Make us proud, Proteas. The whole country is behind you."
