TMU welcomes Shannon Fuller as deputy minister university champion

Shannon Fuller, deputy minister of policy and delivery, Cabinet Office and associate secretary of the Cabinet, has been appointed the Ontario Public Service (OPS) deputy minister university champion at TMU. The role is affiliated with the Department of Politics and Public Administration.

Fuller will connect TMU with the OPS to identify shared priorities, align and promote relevant research and build awareness of career opportunities in the public service. She enjoys having the opportunity to interact with students and find ways to support them at all stages of their learning journeys.

"I'm most excited to share with students the huge value and opportunity they get working in the public service," says Fuller. "I also want to be a bridge for students and faculty so the OPS can benefit from the great minds at TMU."

She brings with her in-depth knowledge of the post-secondary education landscape, having previously held a variety of positions at the Ministry of Education and acted as deputy minister of colleges and universities.

"I've worked along the education continuum during different stops in my career and I know what students and faculty can offer the public service, from fresh energy to new approaches to the things we do on behalf of Ontarians," says Fuller.

Fuller is recognized as a collaborative and strategic leader. In her current position with the OPS, she works with all ministries and the premier's office to develop and deliver the government's policy and legislative agenda. Prior to joining the Cabinet Office, she held positions at the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs, Cabinet Office Communications and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. She holds a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Victoria and a Specialized Honours Degree in Public Policy and Administration from York University.

The strong relationship between the OPS and TMU is reflected in the Department of Politics and Public Administration. Many graduates of the public policy and administration program go on to make significant contributions to policy development in the OPS and elsewhere.

We also thank outgoing champion Martha Greenberg for her and her team's commitment to TMU. She served as the university champion since December 2019. We wish her well in her new role as deputy minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
