College of Pharmacy Expands Nashville Location

Assistant professor Kelsey Frederick, PharmD, teaches in the new classroom at the College of Pharmacy in Nashville.

The UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy recently completed significant upgrades to its Nashville location. These include a new classroom, four study rooms, two conference rooms, and a compounding room.

The upgrades will facilitate collaboration, hands-on learning, and the development of essential skills for UT Health Science Center student pharmacists. The college originally opened its Nashville location in 2014 and moved to its current 11,000-square-foot space at 301 S Perimeter Park Dr. in 2019.

In Fall 2023, the College of Pharmacy expanded opportunities for incoming students to complete the entire four-year PharmD program at either its Nashville or Knoxville locations, in addition to the Memphis campus.

The College of Pharmacy opened its Nashville location in 2014 and moved to its current location in 2019. The building now includes more classroom space, plus a compounding room.

"We are excited about these significant upgrades to enrich and expand our student learning spaces," said Tracy Hagemann, PharmD, associate dean for the Nashville campus. "The additional space underscores our commitment to innovative teaching techniques and our dedication to the needs of our learners to empower their success in our program."

While every aspect of the renovation is poised to make a meaningful impact, the expanded classroom and compounding lab will have the greatest transformative effect on the student experience. These spaces will serve as hubs for innovation, learning, and hands-on exploration, empowering students to excel academically and professionally.

"Completing labs on campus will greatly improve our educational experience, as students no longer have to travel and can focus more on the hands-on learning we are receiving right on campus," second-year PharmD student Kelsie Fadool said.

"As we continue to witness the evolution of our Nashville campus, we are filled with optimism and excitement for the future," said Reginald Frye, PharmD, PhD, dean of the College of Pharmacy. "We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of UT Health Science Center leadership and our community throughout this process."
