Carnival Valor Crew Responds to Call From U.S. Coast Guard and Rescues Three Hondurans Stranded at Sea

Carnival Valor's crew rescued three Hondurans from a small boat adrift in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday after the United States Coast Guard (USCG) alerted the ship and requested assistance with the rescue.

The ship's officers were contacted by USCG officials about noon as Carnival Valor was approximately 35 nautical miles away from the boat in distress. The ship's crew immediately changed course to find the boat and complete the rescue using one of the ship's lifeboats.

Three men, all from Honduras, were saved from the stranded boat and welcomed onto Carnival Valor. The three men were checked by the ship's medical personnel and are in good condition. They will be provided food and lodging until Carnival Valor reaches Costa Maya on Monday.

Carnival Valor's itinerary is unaffected. The ship, which homeports in New Orleans, departed on a five-day cruise Saturday and will return to Port NOLA on Thursday.
