Man Arrested in an Assault Investigation,
Islington Avenue and Bloor Street West area

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in an Assault investigation.

On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at approximately 12:09 p.m., police responded to a call for an assault in the Bloor Street West and Islington Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

  • the victim and the suspect were waiting for the subway train on the eastbound platform of the Islington Subway Station
  • the suspect, suddenly and without provocation, punched the victim in the face
  • the victim and the suspect are not known to each other

The victim attended a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Jeffrey Lovell, 42, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:

  1. Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 201.
