The University of Buckingham is delighted to award its first Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Scholarships.
Hania Suliman and Haneen Fadlalla are the first recipients of the Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Scholarship, created to support Arabic students excel in their scientific and professional careers.
The scholarship is sponsored by Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, a distinguished alumnus of the University from Kuwait.
Sheikh Mubarak, who graduated with a BA in Politics and Economics in 2001, funded the scholarship to support high achieving Arabic students with the potential to serve their country in a leadership role. The scholarship is motivated by Sheikh Mubarak's passion for promoting and developing cultural and economic relations between the United Kingdom and Kuwait.
The scholarship offers one £40,000 award towards tuition fees for a full-time undergraduate degree in any subject starting in September 2025, and one £20,000 award towards tuition fees for a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject starting in September 2024.
Speaking on receipt of the award, the postgraduate scholarship recipient, Hania Suliman, a Sudanese MBA Masters in Business Administration student said:
"I am extremely grateful for the Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Scholarship. It has already been an amazing and fulfilling journey so far at Buckingham campus. I can focus more on my studies, experience the beauty of the campus, and soak in the liveliness and diversity of the university's community, which is unlike anywhere else I have ever been in. I am truly overflowing with gratitude for this amazing opportunity and for the committee that recognized my potential and elected me as one of the recipients of this amazing scholarship."
The undergraduate recipient, Haneen Fadlalla, a Sudanese Medicine student at the University added:
"I'm very grateful for this scholarship. It will allow me to pursue my academic aspirations and equip me with the knowledge to play an active role in steering Sudan toward a brighter future, with a particular focus on healthcare and education."

Scholarships and Bursaries at The University of Buckingham are available for both home and international students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and are awarded based on location, merit or financial need.
The University has a range of scholarships that will be automatically applied if applicants meet eligibility criteria, and a host of funded scholarships that are now open for applications. Please note students should apply for a course first, then a funded scholarship.
