FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BALTIMORE, MD (Sunday, August 4, 2024) - Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott issued the following update regarding the severe storm that has caused significant power outages, downed trees, and property damage across the City of Baltimore.
The Baltimore City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will deactivate overnight, but will reactivate in the morning.
311 Service Requests, Ongoing Road Clearing Efforts, and Traffic Light Outages
Today crews from various city agencies - with support from crews from the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County worked to clear downed trees. While main thoroughfares are now clear, as of 8:34 PM, more than 150 downed trees remain impacting our roadways and more than 60 traffic signals are disrupted.
City crews - again with support from the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County - will work throughout the day tomorrow to clear the remaining trees from roadways.
Traffic Enforcement Officers (TEOs) and Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers will support rush hour at high-traffic impacted intersections as we work to get all signals fully operational. Please use caution while commuting tomorrow morning and treat signal outages as a stop sign.
Residents are encouraged to continue reporting downed trees, traffic light outages, or any other storm-related service requests by calling 311 or by using the 311 app to submit them.
