SBA Offers Additional Funds for Disaster Protection

ATLANTA - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) encourages West Virginia businesses, nonprofits and residents with approved physical damage loans from Post-Tropical Storm Helene to apply for additional loan funds for mitigation measures that help prevent future disaster damage.

Loan recipients have up to two years from their loan approval date to request an increase of up to 20% of their verified physical damages to cover the cost of improvements. Eligible mitigation projects may include regrading landscaping for better drainage, installing a French drain or sump pump, insulating pipes, walls, and attics, adding weather stripping to doors and windows, and more.

Mitigation funds provide an affordable way to strengthen homes and businesses, protecting lives and property against future disasters. To learn more about mitigation options visit sba.gov/mitigation.
