Official Visit to the Kingdom of Thailand of H.E. General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and H.E. Mrs. Linda Hurley, Spouse, during 13 - 17 February 2024

On 13 - 17 February 2024, H.E. General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and H.E. Mrs. Linda Hurley, his spouse, will pay an Official Visit to the Kingdom of Thailand upon the invitation of H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.

On this auspicious occasion, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty Queen Sutthida will graciously grant the Governor-General and his spouse a Royal Audience and host a Royal Banquet at Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall, the Grand Palace. The Governor-General is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister, followed by attending together with Mrs. Hurley, a luncheon hosted by the Prime Minister and his spouse at the Government House.

Furthermore, the Governor-General and Mrs. Hurley will have an audience with His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand at Wat Ratchabophit Sathitmahasimaram. Additionally, they will visit Chiang Rai Province, with particular focus on the Doi Tung Development Project, the Citizen Science for Climate Mitigation and Adaptation in the Ing River Basin Project, and Wat Rong Khun.

The Governor-General's forthcoming visit reflects the close relations and friendship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Commonwealth of Australia, from the highest level of the Thai Royal Family, the governmental as well as people-to-people ties. This Official Visit will provide an opportunity for Thailand and Australia to deepen mutual cooperation as Strategic Partners, particularly in the economic and socio-cultural areas.
