Sheriff's Office makes another significant drug arrest in the Village of Fort Edward

INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED: John L. Hughes Age: 26 Address: Queensbury, NY

INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested John L. Hughes (26) for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, a Class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Narcotic Drug Intent to Sell, a Class B Felony, and Criminal Nuisance in the 1st Degree, a class E Felony.

An Arrest Warrant was issued by the Washington County Court after an Indictment was handed up by a Washington County Grand Jury as a result of a narcotics investigation that led to the purchase of Crack Cocaine from Hughes. Hughes was arraigned in Washington County Court and released pending future court dates.

Hughes is the second person arrested in this case. In December of 2024 Danielle Groves was charged with the same charges as a result of this investigation.
