New York State Troopers Apprehend Homicide Suspect Wanted in Phil...

Westchester County, NY - A routine traffic stop conducted by New York State Troopers led to the arrest of a fugitive wanted for homicide in Philadelphia.

On February 15, 2025, Troopers Charko and Pelaez attempted to stop a vehicle reported stolen out of Virginia. The driver initially complied before fleeing at a high rate of speed, prompting a brief pursuit lasting approximately one minute and covering one mile. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle, at which point he fled on foot. Troopers quickly apprehended the suspect a short distance from the crash site.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect provided false identification and was found in possession of multiple fraudulent forms of identification. He was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash.

Following fingerprint analysis, the suspect was identified as Geovanni Otero, who was wanted by the Philadelphia Police Department and the United States Marshals Service for homicide and other offenses. Otero was being sought in connection with the discovery of a 29-year-old female victim, who was found bludgeoned to death in a shallow grave on November 8, 2024.

In addition to Fugitive from Justice, Otero is awaiting arraignment tomorrow for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration, False Impersonation, Unlawful Fleeing, and Reckless Driving.

Otero remains in custody pending extradition proceedings.
