Councilmember Devon Reese and The Robert Unsworth Foundation host free tennis and pickleball community day

Reno City Councilmember Devon Reese is partnering with The Robert Unsworth Foundation to host a free tennis and pickleball community day on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the Reno Tennis Center.

Community members of all ages are invited to learn a new sport, get some exercise, and grab a bite to eat from local food trucks. Face painting for kids will also be available. The event is generously funded by Councilmember Reese through his council funding. Register for the event here.

"This event will be a great opportunity to have some fun alongside our neighbors and experience two, awesome sports," said Councilmember Reese. "I'm excited to be co-hosting this day with our incredible partners at The Robert Unsworth Foundation who strive to give everyone an opportunity to experience the joys of tennis. We hope to see you there, Reno!"

Saturday's class schedule is as follows:

1 - 2 p.m.

  • Intro to Pickleball Class (Max 24 Participants)

  • Red Ball (Ages 4-6) Child & Parent Group Play Class (Max 30 Participants)

2 - 3 p.m.

  • Adult Intro to Tennis Class (Max 24 Participants)

  • Orange Ball (Ages 7-10) Child & Parent Group Play Class (Max 30 Participants)

1 - 4 p.m.

  • Drop in Pickleball (Unlimited participants)

3 p.m. - close

  • Open tennis and pickleball play for all

Tennis racquets and equipment will be provided; however, participants are encouraged to bring their own tennis racquets and pickleball paddles as inventory is limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the event.
