The University of Cincinnati College of Law will celebrate its graduating cohort at the 191st Hooding Ceremony. This event will be held at 1p.m., Saturday, May 11th, in the Fifth Third Arena on the University of Cincinnati campus. Guiding the proceedings will be Dean Haider Ala Hamoudi, Nippert Professor of Law, as 144 degrees are conferred, including 128 juris doctor degrees and 16 LLM (master's) degrees.

The Hooding ceremony keynote speaker will be Nathaniel Lampley, Jr., '88. A native of Hamilton, Ohio, Lampley excelled academically at Hamilton High School, graduating in the top 1% of his class in 1981. With an academic scholarship, he earned honors from the University of Dayton in 1985, while also gaining valuable work experience at Beckett Paper Company. Later, he secured a full scholarship to the University of Cincinnati College of Law, graduating with honors in 1988 and completing an internship at the Butler County Prosecutor's Office.
Nathaniel Lampley, Jr
Presently, Lampley serves as the managing partner at the Cincinnati office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, specializing in trial law and actively participating in community service. His achievements have garnered him numerous awards, including the Cincinnati Business Courier's "40 Under 40", the Ohio Super Lawyer in Litigation title since 2004, the 2020 University of Cincinnati College of Law Distinguished Alumni Award, and induction as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Dr. Tara Van Ho
As part of the ceremony, Dr. Tara Van Ho '05, associate professor of Law and Human Rights at the University of Essex and co-director of the Essex Business & Human Rights Project, will be honored with the 2024 Nicholas J. Longworth, III Alumni Achievement Award. Her scholarly endeavors are reshaping the discourse in the interdisciplinary realm of business and human rights, extending into insolvency law, investment law, financial markets, and critical race theory. Beyond academia, she has provided counsel to global entities such as the United Nations and Twitter (now X) on content moderation policies and human rights responsibilities, particularly in conflict zones.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Van Ho is leading efforts to reform international and domestic economic laws, advocating for a climate-friendly economy that upholds the rights of affected communities. With her foundation in the University of Cincinnati, where she earned her law degree and practiced as an attorney until 2019, she holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law and a PhD in Law from the University of Essex.
