NSERC proudly presents Sabrina Rondeau, winner of the NSERC and L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science supplement

Sabrina Rondeau is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biology at the University of Ottawa, working in Jessica Forrest's lab. Dr. Rondeau's research focus lies at the interface between pollinator conservation and sustainable food production. Through her research, she collaborates closely with farmers, community scientists, and experts from across the globe to understand the far-reaching consequences of human activities on wild pollinators and find sustainable solutions to mitigate global bee declines.

Dr. Rondeau completed her Ph.D. thesis in 2022, as an Arrell Graduate Scholar at the University of Guelph. During her Ph.D., she assessed the exposure and impacts of combined pesticide residues in soil for ground-nesting bees and bumblebee queens. Her current postdoctoral research focuses on the direct and interacting effects of global warming and agricultural practices (tillage and pesticide use) on wild ground-nesting bee communities. Along with the support from the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Fellowship, her work is being funded by the Weston Family Foundation, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Fonds de Recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (FRQNT).

Beyond her academic research, Dr. Rondeau is an engaged mentor and promoter of science. Among other accomplishments, she is a proud cofounder of Abeilles citoyennes, a community science initiative dedicated to the surveillance of pollinator diversity in the province of Quebec.
