Dubai Tour. Stage 3. Magnus Cort and Riccardo Minali sprint into top 10 classification

- The final sprint was a hectic one with crosswinds coming in on the right side during the final three kilometres. The team did a good job with Truls Korsaeth as the lead out for Riccardo Minali and myself. We were fighting hard and both of us had good legs, so it's a little bit frustrating we didn't get a better result, - told Magnus Cort after the stage.

Although a small climb in the final 50 kilometers of stage 3 (Skydive Dubai to Fujairah), a bunch sprint was expected at the end of the 183 kilometers long stage. The bunch at the finish could have been much smaller if the echelons would have been successful during the race, but with Laurens de Vreese pulling in front of the second group the damage was limited. And with sprinters Riccardo Minali and Magnus Cort being in the first group during the echelons, no serious energy was spilled before the final sprint.

In the final kilometres, Truls Korsaeth went to the front for a lead-out with Cort and Minali in his wheel but they didn't manage to get mixed in the fight for a podium. They were sprinting just behind the top 5, achieving an 8th and 9th place in the stage classification. The 4th place of Magnus Cort in the General Classification was concealed, as Riccardo Minali entered the top 10 at place 8. Mark Cavendish won the stage, Elia Viviani is the new race leader of the Dubai Tour.

Tomorrow the riders will conquer the Dubai Tour's Queen Stage, a 172-km long race from Skydive Dubai to Hatta Dam.
