"Taxing the extreme wealth is fair and feasible": 134 economists from 50 universities have signed the Manifesto, whose main drafters include economists Demetrio Guzzardi, Elisa Palagi, Andrea Roventini, in support of "Tax The Rich for Italy"

Increasing the fairness of the Italian tax system, ensuring greater sustainability of public finances, finding the necessary resources to stimulate sustainable and inclusive growth, supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation policies, financing investments in the just ecological transition, in essential public goods such as healthcare system and education, and in countering the widening area of vulnerability and social exclusion. These are the main objectives of the Manifesto, whose main drafters include Demetrio Guzzardi, Elisa Palagi and Andrea Roventini, economists at the Sant'Anna School, in support of a "Tax The Rich for Italy" agenda. The manifesto was endorsed by 134 Italian economists from 50 Italian and foreign universities, presented and discussed on Wednesday, May 22, at the Senate in a roundtable coordinated by Oxfam and Patriotic Millionaires, attended by representatives from all political sides.

"The adherence of such a significant number of Italian economists to the Tax The Rich agenda lends authority and further vigor to our calls for greater tax justice. - said Mikhail Maslennikov, policy advisor on economic justice at Oxfam - With this Manifesto, we hope to have the ear of the political class, which can no longer ignore the need to strengthen the fairness of our tax system, nor give up on recovering crucial resources to bring down waiting lists in public healthcare facilities, stabilize precarious staff in schools, fund measures to support citizens in fragile conditions and effectively combat climate change."
