Dallas ISD News: Dallas ISD COVID-19 Update: June 21

NEWS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: June 21, 2021

DALLAS - Enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year is open for all new and returning Dallas ISD students. As part of our neighborhood and magnet/choice offerings, families can pick from an array of innovative schools and programs such as STEM/STEAM, personalized learning, talented and gifted, dual language, and many more.

Our ONE Centers will provide assistance with online enrollment through the summer, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. During the week of July 5 to 9, the ONE Centers will be closed along with the rest of the district.

Summer meals are available through curbside pickup or on-site eating
During the summer, our Food and Child Nutrition Services will continue to provide free meals to all children. Our curbside pickup service will be scheduled every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at selected schools. Also, during the summer we will provide on-site meals to children up to 18 years old at participating sites. All families have to do is find a site and have their child show up for breakfast and lunch to enjoy a healthy meal.

Communities are helping design new Bond 2020 Dallas ISD schools
We continue engaging with Dallas ISD communities to share their vision for what the new campuses to be built as part of Bond 2020 should include. Through a series of virtual school design charette events, we're listening to the ideas that school staff, parents, and community stakeholders have for the conceptual design of new schools across Dallas ISD.

The final charette events will be held at 6 p.m. for the following communities:

  • Monday, June 21: John Quincy Adams, Herbert Marcus, George Peabody, and Lenore Kirk Hall elementary schools.
  • Tuesday, June 22: Herbert Marcus and Martha Turner Reilly elementary schools.

June's board meeting
The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, for their regularly scheduled board meeting. A link to the livestream can be found here.
