Beijing Unveils Its First 10 'Urban Garden City Walk' Itineraries

Recently, the Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau introduced a series of travel routes under the theme of 'Colourful Autumn in Beijing', including the ten 'Most Beautiful Parks for Autumn Sightseeing', the ten 'Most Gorgeous Roads in Golden Autumn', the ten ' Urban Garden City Walk' Itineraries, and the ten 'Immersive Autumn Trips'. Including many streets and Hutong all around the city, the 'Urban Garden City Walk' itineraries perfectly blend the rich historical and cultural landscapes, high-quality ecological scenery, and the authenticity of leisurely lifestyle in the Hutong.

1. Chongyong Street, Dongcheng District

The 5.2-kilometer street runs from Chongwenmen in the south to Yonghegong Bridge in the north. With a rich history, it serves as the main route that showcases both historical and cultural heritage and the modern landscape of the capital.

2. Lanman Hutong, Xicheng District

Located within the Fayuan Temple Historical and Cultural Block, the Lanman Hutong stretches around 390 meters. The alley is flanked with a variety of flowers and grasses, along with colourful graffiti on the walls. In the cafes and various shops lining the street, visitors can experience the lifestyle of the Beijing natives.

3. Liuyin Street, Xicheng District

This route features distinctive landscapes, such as the waterfront space, the willow-shaded alley, and the train station along the track. The forestry and park authorities also built more micro-greenfields and pocket parks, to allow the local residents to have more green spaces right on their doorstep.

4. Lianhuahe Waterfront Greenway, Xicheng District

Spanning 2.4 kilometers, the greenway features a bicycle lane, a walkway, a leisure platform, and a waterfront boardwalk. Five scenic areas are situated along the watercourse from north to south.

5. Bahe Waterfront in Chaoyang District

This large-scale waterfront open space blends traditional Chinese charm and international style. Visitors can stroll along the banks from Dongba Park to the Second Airport Expressway, covering 1.5 kilometers, or from Jiuxianqiao Road to Langyuan Vintage, covering 2.3 kilometers.

6. Chaoyang Greenway in Chaoyang District

Situated at the intersection of Anli Road and Qinghe Subdistrict, this 9.5-kilometer greenway extends south to Wanghe Park (North) and connects multiple parks and forest areas, including Olympic Forest Park. Several bike parking spots and cycling-related facilities are available along the route.

7. Zhongguancun Street in Haidian District

Stretching approximately one kilometer, this street has been upgraded into a citizen-friendly public space that features a jogging lane, an ecological greenway, and venues for social interaction, along with smart transportation facilities.

8. Qinghe Waterfront Green Corridor in Haidian District

Situated north of Qinghe, just outside the Fifth Ring Road in Haidian District, this corridor spans approximately 1.5 kilometers and has been developed into a waterfront open space.

9. "Three Hills and Five Gardens" Greenway in Haidian District

Beginning at the east gate of Haidian Park, this route heads west along the North Fourth Ring Road greenway, passing through Kunyu River, Chuanying Park and Zhongwu Park, eventually reaching the west gate of Beiwu Park, with a total length of about 6 kilometers.

10. Yunchaojian River Health Greenway in Tongzhou District

Located along the Yunchaojian River in Tongzhou District, this greenway stretches 22.94 kilometers. Visitors can experience the harmonious ecological vibes of forests and water in eastern Beijing.
