Sarah Long Attains Floodplain Manager Certification

The Camden County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that Sarah Long completed the necessary steps to become a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) through the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM).

"Sarah is an asset to unincorporated Camden County property owners," said Planning & Development Director Joey Yacobacci. "We are proud of her latest achievement."

Mrs. Long joined the Planning & Development Department as the Deputy Community Rating System (CRS) and Erosion & Sedimentation (E&S) Coordinator in September 2021. In this role, Mrs. Long provides technical field investigation, review, and inspections relating to the areas of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the Erosion and Sedimentation program.

The ASFPM national certified floodplain manager program was established in 1998 to create a baseline testing of professional competence in floodplain management. The program requires passing an exam and then continuing education credits annually to maintain certification.

As part of the flood protection program for Camden County, Mrs. Long participates in the NFIP's CRS program. As part of her office's work with this program, unincorporated Camden County residents have saved over $1 million in flood insurance premiums since 2012.
