Grove: Shapiro Fails Property Taxpayers Again by Denying Tax Relief

Harrisburg - The following statement is issued on behalf of House Republican Appropriations Chairman Seth Grove following the Shapiro Administration's certification of the amount of monies available in the Property Tax Relief Fund for the second straight year:
"For the second straight year, Governor Shapiro has intentionally shortchanged the citizens of this Commonwealth by under-certifying the total amount of monies in Property Tax Relief Fund. As with last year, the Budget Secretary had the opportunity to certify more than $1 billion in gaming revenues available for property tax relief, yet he refused to do so."
"What makes this misguided decision even more confounding is the Department of Revenue Secretary Pat Browne shared with the Appropriations Committee in February that he believed the fund would be certified at $1 billion. When this news is added to the fact that the Shapiro Administration signed onto the Basic Education Funding Commission report, which called for $291 million in property tax increases, it becomes clear that Shapiro's agenda is taxing Pennsylvania into financial ruin."
