The Sigrid Göransson sustainability award 2024 to digitalized recycling program for used carbide tools

The "Sandvik Sustainability Award in Memory of Sigrid Göransson" 2024 was awarded to the team behind a digitalized tool recycling program for customers that has made a substantial impact on reducing waste.

By collaborating closely with customers, a team from Sandvik Machining Solutions' divisions has made further developments of their long-established buy-back programs to retrieve customers' used carbide tools and recycle them into new products. With a purpose to retrieve more than 90 percent of the sold carbide volumes, the team developed a digitalized solution with several benefits. Through a self-service portal, the recycling process has been made simpler for customers. It has also increased traceability for Sandvik.

The winners of the "The Sandvik Sustainability Award in Memory of Sigrid Göransson" 2024 were announced at the Annual General Meeting of Sandvik April 29.
