Hospital da Luz Arrábida supported FC Porto Foot Camp Dragon Force

Hospital da Luz specialists explained the importance of sleep and emotions to the children participating in this football school.

Hospital da Luz Arrábida was partner and sponsor in the Easter edition of Foot Camp Dragon Force, the FC Porto football school destined to children aged 3 to 15, which took place between 1 and 5 April. In this week of school holidays, the around 300 participants had the opportunity to learn more about football, live and in colour, at the Dragon stadium.

Besides tactics and training, the program included pedagogical activities, some of which ensured by Hospital da Luz health professionals:

  • Children up to 10 years old had the opportunity to hear psychologist Nádia Costa (in the photo above) talk about "How to communicate without hurting?" - where she approached the importance of listening and discussing about emotions, and how to communicate without hurting other people around.
  • With Rui Barros, internist physician and coordinator of this hospital's Sports Medicine Centre, the oldest children (11-15 years) learned more about "The importance of sleep in athletes". Good sleep habits are fundamental for everyone and even more for the recovery of those who practise sports, at any age, he highlighted, giving examples of famous athletes who have spoken publicly about it, which helped motivating the young audience.

Both lectures were done in dialogue with the children, who in the end showed having learned the lesson pretty well.

Hospital da Luz Arrábida thanks FC Porto for the opportunity to join this initiative, and for all the collaboration provided.

Sports is essential for a healthy life, at all ages, counting with the vast support of Hospital da Luz.
