Gasworks Bridge closures

Transport for NSW is carrying out remediation work on Gasworks Bridge at Macarthur Street, Parramatta. Work started in July 2023 and is expected to be completed by mid-2024.

May 2024 - Gasworks Bridge full road closures

Gasworks Bridge will be temporarily closed to all traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) for up to eight weekends between 3 May and 24 June 2024.

Northbound traffic will need to detour via:

  • George Street, Alfred Street, River Road West, James Ruse Drive, Thomas Street/Victoria Road and then back onto Macarthur Street.

or

  • Harris Street, Parkes Street/Hassall Street, James Ruse Drive, Thomas Street/Victoria Road and then back onto Macarthur Street.

Southbound traffic will need to detour via:

  • Victoria Road, Wilde Avenue and back onto George Street.

This weekend's bridge shutdown for Gasworks Bridge will go ahead.

Work will take place on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May from 7am to 6pm.

Upcoming weekend bridge shutdown dates, subject to change and weather permitting, will be between 8pm Friday and 5am Monday on:

  • Friday 17 May and Monday 20 May
  • Friday 24 May and Monday 27 May
  • Friday 31 May and Monday 3 June
  • Friday 7 June and Monday 10 June
  • Friday 14 June and Monday 17 June
  • Friday 21 June and Monday 24 June.

Please note Transport for NSW may not need to close Gasworks Bridge for all of the weekends listed above. Notification of all confirmed bridge closures will be displayed on variable message signage boards at least five days before any traffic changes come into effect.
