Georgia State University Tops $973,000 in Fundraising on Record-Breaking Georgia State Day 2022

ATLANTA-Georgia State University's fifth annual day of giving, Georgia State Day, was its most successful yet, with more than $973,000 raised from 2,166 gifts supporting the institution's students and mission. This giving day broke previous Georgia State Day records in several categories, including dollars raised, total value of challenge gifts and number of funds supported.

Held Sept. 27-28, Georgia State Day 2022 continued the university's giving day streak of raising more funds each year and surpassing the record for revenue set the previous. This year's event also established new benchmarks for the number of challenge gifts, their total amount and number of people who issued them: 103 donors issued 56 separate challenge gifts totaling almost $470,000. The 2,166 donations made on Georgia State Day 2022 benefited 279 different university funds.

"Through their generosity, our Georgia State Day donors have shown their faith in and commitment to The State Way, as well their belief that backing Panthers' potential is a great investment," said Jay Kahn, vice president of advancement and president of the Georgia State University Foundation. "We're thankful to everyone who gave on Georgia State Day and, in doing so, generously advanced the university's mission and provided students with meaningful support."

Among the many notable contributions to this year's event were those made by 759 first-time Georgia State Day donors, of which 371 were making their first ever gift to the university. Alumni of every graduating class from 1968 through 2022 donated on Georgia State Day, with the class of 2022 making the most gifts. This year's results also include gifts from 139 individuals who donated to their fifth consecutive giving day and contributors from 42 different states and three other countries.
