Mayoral Candidates to Go Deeper on Education Plans at Forum Hosted by Community College of Philadelphia and Elevate 215

"The Education Interview: How Can Our Next Mayor Move Education Forward?" Asks Candidates More Detail About How They Will Accomplish the Goals in their Education Plans if Elected

PHILADELPHIA - On Monday, April 24, Community College of Philadelphia and Elevate 215 will be hosting a mayoral forum that asks leading mayoral candidates to go deeper on their education plans. The event is called "The Education Interview: How Can Our Next Mayor Move Education Forward?" and provides candidates with opportunities to speak one at a time for 15 minutes with a panel of education leaders in key areas of their education plans from kindergarten to postsecondary education and career pathways. Many of the questions in the interviews will build on core areas identified in the release of Elevate 215's report about how our next mayor can move schools forward, as covered in The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Philadelphia Tribune, and will provide candidates with an opportunity to go deeper on how they plan to move schools forward for Philadelphia students and families if elected.

Who:

All six mayoral candidates who filed first quarter financial disclosures and remain in the race have been invited to participate, and five of those six have committed to participating.

  • Dr. Seth Jacobson, Executive Director, Octavius Catto Scholarship at Community College of Philadelphia.
