FARGO - A pair of Fargo South High School graduates - Chris Coste (Class of 1991) and Alex DuBord (Class of 2015) - are celebrating an American Association independent baseball championship won in their hometown on Thursday evening (September 22).

Coste and DuBord - both with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks - were part of the wild 9-8, 10-inning victory over the Milwaukee Milkmen during Game 5 of the 2022 Miles Wolff Cup Series at Newman Outdoor Field.

It is the RedHawks' first American Association championship since joining the league in 2011. The RedHawks were runners up in the 2021 American Association championship series. Prior to playing in the American Association, Fargo-Moorhead was a member of the Northern League winning titles in that league in 1998, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2010.

Coste, a former big league catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros, is the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks' manager. Coste, now in his third year as manager for the club he once played for, got a big lift from a fellow Fargo South Bruin on Thursday night.

DuBord, the RedHawks' best relief pitcher during the 2022 season, lived up to his role on Thursday pitching three innings of no-hit relief to pick up the pitching victory on the mound. DuBord entered the game in the eighth inning following the RedHawks' big 5-run bottom of the seventh inning to knot the game at 8-8. He wiggled out of a jam in the eighth striking out Milwaukee's Will Kengor for the final out stranding two runners.

DuBord walked the lead off batter in the ninth inning, but retired the next six batters he would face the rest of the evening, finishing the night with two strikeouts.

The RedHawks pushed the winning run across in the bottom of the 10th inning thanks to a walk-off single off the bat of Leobaldo Pina that scored Christian Correa.
