Well Wisconsin 2024 – Regional Biometric Health Screenings, Diabetes Support, 5K Workshops

Register for a Regional Biometric Health Screening

A health screening is a great opportunity to check-in on your health status. It provides you with your cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure and provides a glimpse into your health status. While these results aren't necessarily the be-all and end-all of your health, they can help you prioritize where you may want to focus your efforts.

Cholesterol is typically broken down into HDL, LDL, and triglycerides. Learn more about each of these types of cholesterol. Along with blood pressure, cholesterol results provide a look at your heart health. Glucose is a measurement of your blood sugar and can provide a measurement of your risk for pre-diabetes or diabetes.

Subscribers and spouses enrolled in the State of Wisconsin Group Health Insurance Program (GHIP) can participate in Well Wisconsin health screening events taking place around the state in May. Alternatively, you may request a self-collection kit and complete the screening from the comfort of your home. To register for a screening or to request your kit, go to webmdhealth.com/wellwisconsin, click on "My Health" and then "Take Action." On the "Biometric Screening" card, click "Get Started."

You can also enroll in health coaching for one-on-one support and help understanding your health screening results. Your coach will also help you set and reach your well-being goals. Hear more about how coaching has helped other Wisconsinites in this video.

It's Your Health: Diabetes

Type II diabetes affects many adults. It occurs when the body doesn't make enough insulin, or can't use the available insulin as well as it should. This can lead to negative health outcomes related to heart health, vision problems, kidney failure, and amputations of the extremities. Well Wisconsin is here to help subscribers and spouses enrolled in the GHIP with managing and preventing diabetes. Connect with a WebMD health coach on diabetes management and in return, receive reduced copays on diabetic related prescriptions. Learn more about the diabetes condition management program and reduced prescription copay. Hear from Wisconsinites on the impact coaching has had on their lives.

If you have pre-diabetes, you can also connect with WebMD to enroll in the Diabetes Prevention Program, an evidence-based curriculum recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the effectiveness of diabetes prevention and weight management.

Walk, Run, or Roll Your Way to a 5K

There is still time to join the Well Wisconsin team at a 5K Workshop the week of April 22! Learn more about different training plans available to help you work your way to a 5K in 5 weeks. After the short educational session, you can head out for a group walk, run, or roll on the trail. The groups can continue to meet once a week to prepare for a 5K in early June.

Invite your family, friends, or coworkers to join you. You will receive more information after registering, including the meeting location and other helpful tips.
