75^th Springfield Police Academy Welcomes 27 Recruits

Members of the Springfield Police Department welcomed 27 recruits to the 75^th Springfield Police Academy today.

Recruits come from across the country including California, Washington and throughout Missouri bringing a variety of backgrounds from military to fast food management. They will spend the next six months completing 1,100 hours of intense law enforcement training.

Upon graduation, recruits work with an experienced field-training officer (FTO) for approximately 520 hours (13 weeks) of on-the-job training. Following the completion of the FTO program, new officers are assigned to the Uniform Operations Bureau.
