The Murdoch difference

Your allied health career requires hands-on training with modern equipment in a real-world setting. Right here on campus, we provide world-class resources including:

Sports science facilities

Our purpose-built multimillion-dollar sports science facility includes three modern and fully equipped labs for research, teaching, and clinical work. We don't just focus on elite athletes; we're also concerned with injury prevention and performance across all ages and levels of activity to help individuals function better in their day-to-day lives.

Experience these labs:

  • Exercise Physiology (including an integrated climate and altitude chamber capable of simulating extreme environmental conditions)
  • Performance (including high speed cameras, 3D motion capture and a 50m running track), and
  • Strength and Conditioning (including a fully equipped gym with Olympic lifting facilities).

A love of nature and physical activity led this student to a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science. Meet Katie.

Chiropractic clinic

Since 2005, the Murdoch University Chiropractic Clinic has been offering high-quality patient centred care. Here, our final year chiropractic students work under the guidance and supervision of a registered chiropractor to provide care to members of the public. This allows students to complete the training required to register with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency via the Chiropractic Board of Australia. Both students and patients benefit from these quality facilities:

  • Treatment rooms
  • Rehabilitation gym
  • Physiological therapeutics facility, and
  • Digital radiographic suite.

Counselling clinic

Our Master of Counselling and Master of Creative Arts Therapies students are able to put their skills to use at our on-campus clinic. Here, they'll work with a variety of clients, helping them to express themselves and discuss the issues causing them concern. Students work under supervision, allowing them to benefit from the guidance and support of our experienced and qualified clinic staff. This invaluable experience allows students to develop their skills in assessment, individual and group treatment, working with children and adult clients, and working with other professionals.

Beyond the classroom

What happens outside class is just as important for your future career, and may even count towards course credit and future job employment opportunities.

  • Outreach clinics. Each year chiropractic students and supervisors provide health assessments and hands-on care to people in rural and regional areas. Since the program began, our students have provided nearly 20,000 health checks and treatments.
  • Relationships with iconic organisations including the Western Australian Cricket Association, Western Australian Institute of Sport, WAFL teams, and the Western Australian Police Academy.
  • Internships and work experience. Put theory into practice with Work Integrated Learning.
