The Ministry of Interior must guard all centres for accommodation of foreigners, the National Assembly decided. Parliament adopted at first reading amendments to the Law on the Ministry of the Interior.. Submitters are Boyko Borisov, Delyan Peevski, Raya Nazaryan, Anna Alexandrova, Temenuzhka Petkova, Yordan Tsonev, Hamid Hamid and Erten Anisova.

The proposal aims to provide enhanced and mandatory security for all centres for accommodation of foreigners in order to prevent future incidents, is written in the motives.

The National Assembly adopted at first reading amendments to the Administration Act, in connection with increasing the capacity of the Border Police. The amendments tabled by GERB-UDF and MRF were supported by 138 MPs, 2 voted against and 44 abstained.

The bill proposes to increase the capacity of the Border Police by 1,264 posts for the protection of refugee centres and to strengthen border security. These posts are necessary to ensure the normal functioning of all structural units, the submitters specify.

During the parliamentary scrutiny time, the outgoing ministers Rumen Radev, Zaritsa Dinkova, Dimitar Iliev, Hristo Hinkov and Todor Tagarev answered MPs' questions.
